KALAMITY DANCE
Kalamity Dance is a Utah based dance company that is dedicated to raising funds for families and individuals that are experiencing personal calamities. Since 2007 the company has raised $270,000 dollars for families struggling with fatal or extreme illnesses via bi-yearly benefit dance concerts. This year, Kalamity is raising funds for an effort entitled Kisses For Kycie.
Tia Ah Quin Stokes, Founder of Kalamity, established the company in 2007 in the midst of a successful career in the commercial dance industry. Stokes has always believed her talent had a greater purpose and set out to fulfill that purpose by establishing a company of dancers that intentionally utilized their talents to benefit the surrounding community. On their website, the Kalamity company requests that followers inform them of causes and families in need of help.
“Have a family member, friend or co-worker who is struggling with their own calamity? If you are in need of help, we raise money for causes via our community benefit concerts. Please contact us“.
The Vault Dance Studio serves as home base for the Kalamity dancers and has been open since 2011 in St. George, UT. The studio is home to a big family of dancers and parents that stick together to help a new cause every year. In an effort to ease financial burdens for many struggling individuals and families, The Vault holds a spring concert and a winter concert. In addition, the Vault offers hip hop, jazz, cheer, and cardio classes for ages 3-adult.
“All of our classes are high energy and The Vault is a place that students aren’t just students, they are family“. – Tia Ah Quin Stokes
