MEALS ON WHEELS
Interfaith Ministries (IM) for Greater Houston brings people of diverse faith traditions in Houston, Texas together for dialogue, collaboration and service, as a demonstration of shared beliefs.
The program is home to several community outreach initiatives including Meals on Wheels, Disaster Response Alliance, aniMeals on Wheels and Refugee Services. In addition to providing a home-delivered meal to homebound seniors and their spouses, the Meals on Wheels program also delivers breakfast and weekend meals to the most frail and isolated seniors. This nutritional support helps seniors remain independent and in their own homes.
Meals on Wheels for Greater Houston is able to serve seniors with the help of partners like the Harris County Area Agency on Aging. In conjunction with the Harris County Community Services Department, Meals on Wheels is able to reach out to the remote areas of Harris County, serving seniors across the county.
Additionally, the aniMeals on Wheels program was founded so that homebound seniors on the Meals on Wheels program would not feel compelled to share their limited food and resources with their four-legged friends.
