I Can Still Do That Foundation launches online directory that provides opportunities for entrepreneurs of all ages to connect for mentorship

On February 4th, 2019 The I Can Still Do That Foundation officially launched its Senior Business Directory an online intergenerational ecosystem that supports senior entrepreneurship by curating an online library of resources to help start, grown and sustain new business endeavors.

Entrepreneurs of all ages who seek to support senior entrepreneurs in their pursuit to foster their business ventures are welcome to register for the directory online. Registered members receive invitations to live cultural and networking events and gain access to a community of creative entrepreneurs, online business promotion and peer to peer intergenerational networking opportunities.

According to the Foundation’s Executive Director, Dan Schneider, ‘24.3 percent of all new entrepreneurs are between 55-to-64 years old and Baby Boomers are nearly twice as likely to plan to launch businesses than their millennial counterparts”. Senior entrepreneurs have a success rate of twice that of general entrepreneurs based on their experience, access to capital, credit and other senior entrepreneurs.

Leslie Faerstein, Executive Director of amazing.community, shared with Nectar News that they “are proud to be one of the early participants in the Senior Business Directory and to partner with the I Can Still Do That Foundation. Amazing.community’s mission is to expand the work horizon for women 50+ and to this end, we are supporting the opportunity for all our members and organizational partners to be part of the Senior Business Directory.

The Senior Business Directory has set a goal to register 1,000 businesses and individuals by December 31st, 2019 and is encouraging older adults entrepreneurs to register on behalf of their own businesses or encourage friends and colleagues to do the same. Registering entrepreneurs who represent a variety of ethnicities, genders, ages, sexualities and ethnicities is a priority for the Senior Business Directory Team.

The Senior Business Directory application process requires interested entrepreneurs to share their interests and describe their business in a short online survey. Soon after submitting, participants will receive a welcome message from the team directing them through the many facets of the website and the benefits of joining the Senior Business Directory community.

In partnership with Next Gen, Amazing.Community and Growing Bolder The I Can Still Do That Foundation has populated the site with written resources, podcasts, videos and creative entrepreneur testimonies that will provide registered participants with resources that speak to their entrepreneurial journey. The content on the site will evolve with the changing conversations around ageism, senior entrepreneurship and the age gap between millennials and Boomers.  The I Can Still Do That Foundation specializes in intergenerational networking and is partnering with several nonprofits and for profit organizations to register participants Senior Business Directory. Together the organizations seek to foster a new community that can help facilitate creation of intergenerational opportunities. Intergenerational networking, webinars and live events are an integral part of the Directory’s design to bridge the current segregation between Gen Z, Millennials, GenX and Baby Boomers.

Of all the things that divide us, the gap between the old and the young is arguably the most bridgeable. Connecting across the generation is not only pragmatic, it’s an essential part of the human experience and a key to the cycle of life. – Marc Freedman, ‘How to Live Forever’
