Dixie Care & Share was founded in 1980 by Ruth and Harvey McGee. The couple’s initial idea to help others was sparked by visits to churches and leading community organizations in St. George. During those visits, they were told by community members that St. George was in need of a place that combined several services for the needy. Ruth and Harvey’s compassion, working with others through churches and community organizations, has created an organization which assists thousands of families each year.
Dixie Care & Share is currently in the process of transitioning from their traditional model of service and will remain an essential community pillar in the St. George area for years to come.
