LEITH OF LIFE BENEFIT
The Florence Belsky Charitable Foundation will be co-hosting a reggae concert and benefit for Woodstock teacher Leith Rogovin entitled “Leith of Life : Reggae Dance Celebration and Benefit for Leith” on Saturday April 11th in Woodstock, NY.
Leith Rogovin has been a teacher at the Woodstock Day School (WDS) for over 20 years and has been an involved member of the Woodstock community, helping kids on a daily basis. He was diagnosed with brain cancer last summer, has already had two surgeries and has undergone chemo and radiation therapy. He is currently enrolled in a clinical trial in NYC for cancer patients and commutes bi-weekly from his job at the Woodstock Day School for treatments. An irrevocable trust has been set up by his family and friends to help cover the costs of care. Along with dedicated friends of Leith and members of the Woodstock community, the Florence Belsky Charitable Foundation is organizing The Reggae Dance Celebration and Benefit to raise money to provide for Leith’s treatment. Monies will be collected through HelpHopeLive, a nationally rated non-profit organization that assists in raising money for the care of people with catastrophic illnesses.
The Leith Compassion Fund will cover Leith’s medical and related expenses, not covered by health insurance, as well as travel for treatment. Any monies not needed by Leith will go into a Compassion Fund for other teachers from the Woodstock Day School who suffer catastrophic illnesses in the future.
The concert will not only provide a valuable benefit for Leith and his fellow teachers at WDS, but will also provide a night of entertainment for families and reggae fans alike. The concert will feature a video showing the highlights of Leith’s life and good deeds in the Woodstock community and there will also be a silent auction to raise money for Leith’s Compassion Fund. Performers and alumni from the Woodstock Day School will also be featured in the evening’s program. Check out the recently published PSA about Leith’s many contributions to the community.
